About Kybella
Kybella is the first FDA-approved, nonsurgical injection used to destroy fat cells in the face, neck, and chin. It is made with a formulation of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown of fat. When injected into the treatment area, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells.
While Kybella is best known for treating submental fullness under the chin, the same fat-destroying approach can be used to refine small, stubborn pockets elsewhere on the body — such as the bra line, upper arms, or areas of contour irregularity — when your provider determines it is appropriate.
Treatment takes about 20 minutes. Swelling for several days after each session is expected and is part of how the treatment works. Most clients need two to four sessions spaced about six weeks apart, with results appearing four to six weeks after each. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they do not come back.
- —Have a stubborn pocket of fat — under the chin or on the body — that diet and exercise have not changed
- —Want a sharper jawline or smoother contour without surgery
- —Have reasonable skin elasticity in the treatment area
- —Prefer a permanent reduction over a maintenance treatment
Most clients need 2–4 sessions spaced about six weeks apart. Financing is available through Cherry.

Frequently asked
Is Kybella permanent?+
Yes — the treated fat cells are destroyed and do not return, though significant weight gain can affect the area.
