Overview

Treating the under-eyes

Dark circles have more than one cause. Some are shadow cast by a hollow tear trough, some are pigment, and some are thin skin showing the vasculature beneath. The treatment that works depends on which one you have — which is why this area always starts with an assessment.

For hollowing, a small amount of hyaluronic acid filler placed deep against the bone removes the shadow. For thin, crepey skin and pigment, PRP or microneedling thickens the dermis over a series. Many clients do both, staged.

The under-eye is the most technique-sensitive area of the face. It is treated here only by injectors trained specifically in it.

A GOOD FIT IF YOU:
  • Look tired even when well rested
  • Have a visible hollow or shadow beneath the eye
  • Have crepey texture or fine lines under the eye
  • Want a non-surgical alternative to lower blepharoplasty

Treatments Available

Under-eye filler (tear trough)

A small amount of hyaluronic acid filler placed deep against the bone to restore volume in a hollow tear trough. Removing the hollow removes the shadow it casts, so the area reads brighter and more rested. Placed with a blunt cannula where possible to reduce bruising risk, and results are visible immediately.

PRP for under-eyes

Platelet-rich plasma drawn from your own blood and delivered into the thin skin beneath the eye. Rather than adding volume, it supports collagen so the skin thickens over time — the better choice for crepey texture, fine lines, and skin that shows the vasculature beneath. Best in a series, with improvement building over 6–12 weeks.

Microneedling

Controlled micro-channels stimulate collagen and improve the quality and tone of the surrounding skin. Often paired with PRP or used on its own for texture and fine lines, and typically performed as a series for the most noticeable change.

03
Treatment

30–45 minutes, typically with a blunt cannula to reduce bruising risk.

04

Questions

Frequently asked

Is under-eye filler safe?+

In trained hands, yes. It is a delicate area, so we treat it only with injectors specifically trained in tear-trough technique and often use a cannula.

Why was I told I'm not a candidate?+

If your circles are pigment or you have significant fat herniation or fluid retention, filler will not help and can look worse. We'll say so and recommend an alternative.

How long does it last?+

Under-eye filler commonly lasts 12–18 months.
